Frequently asked questions
About our treatment
Your first session begins with a comprehensive consultation where we discuss your medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and health goals. I'll perform a thorough physical examination to understand your body's condition. Treatment typically follows, personalized to your specific needs and comfort level. First visits usually last 30~60 minutes.
This varies based on your condition and health goals. Many patients experience significant relief within 1 session. Acute injuries may resolve in 2-3 treatments, while chronic conditions might require 4-5 sessions. We'll create a personalized treatment plan together and adjust as needed based on your progress.
Consultation and treatment: from ¥15,000 (30~60 minutes). While I don't directly bill insurance companies, I can provide detailed receipts for you to submit to your insurance provider. Many international insurance plans offer reimbursement for osteopathic care.
Osteopathy is extremely safe when performed by a qualified practitioner. I always work within your comfort zone and adapt my techniques to your preferences. Some people prefer gentle approaches, while others respond better to more direct methods. You may feel mild soreness for 24–48 hours after treatment as your body adjusts — similar to the soreness you get after exercise. Treatment itself should not be painful. You might experience brief discomfort during certain techniques, but it is short-lived and manageable.
I successfully treat a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, pregnancy-related discomfort, digestive issues, stress-related disorders, TMJ problems, and many more. If you have a specific condition you're concerned about, please contact me directly - I'm happy to discuss whether osteopathy would be beneficial for you.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement. Bring or email any relevant medical records, imaging results, or medication lists. Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your appointment. If you have specific questions or concerns, write them down beforehand so we can address them during your consultation.
While both professions use manual therapy, osteopathy takes a whole-body approach, considering how all systems (musculoskeletal, circulatory, nervous, digestive) interact. Osteopaths use a wider variety of techniques including soft tissue work, visceral manipulation, and cranial techniques, in addition to joint adjustments. I customize treatment to your individual needs rather than following a standard protocol.
Yes! I'm fluent in English and French, in addition to having conversational Japanese. To work in Japanese is not a problem for me. I've worked with international residents in Tokyo for over 15 years, so I'm very comfortable communicating complex health information in English and understanding the unique needs of expats living in Japan.
